The City of Sarajevo Delegation Visits the “Alija Izetbegović” Foundation

Delegation of the City of Sarajevo, led by the Mayor Mr. Abdulah Skaka and his deputy Mr. Ivica Šarić, visited the “Alija Izetbegović” Foundation on Wednesday, September 15, 2020.

On behalf of the Foundation, the delegation was welcomed by Mrs. Sabina Berberović, a member of the Foundation’s Board, and Muhamed Mulahmetović, Secretary General of the Foundation, who introduced the guests to the mission and goals of the Foundation, and pointed out that the Foundation was established to implement social initiatives and programs through scientific research with related institutions and in accordance with the intellectual legacy of the first President of the Presidency of Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Alija Izetbegović.

Mayor Skaka welcomed the establishment of the Foundation, emphasizing the numerous projects supported by the City of Sarajevo, which concern Alija Izetbegović. “It is important that we preserve the lasting memory of the man who, along with our soldiers, is the most creditable for the creation of an independent Bosnia and Herzegovina. The work of Alija Izetbegović, the principles that he advocated and fought for throughout his life, are still an inspiration today “, said Skaka.

The Secretary General of the Foundation, Muhamed Mulahmetović, emphasized that the support of the City of Sarajevo and Mayor Skaka is very important to the Foundation. “For us, this meeting is an announcement of a more intensive cooperation on joint projects in the future, with the aim of affirming the work of the Foundation, stronger promotion and authentic interpretation of the life and work of the late President Izetbegović,” concluded Mulahmetović.
