Summer School for Children from Nova Kasaba and Bosanski Novi Successfully Organized by the Alija Izetbegović Foundation

The Alija Izetbegović Foundation, as part of its mission and goals, strives, among other things, to improve the awareness of identity, especially among the younger generations, and therefore, in the period from August 23 to 25, 2022, it successfully implemented a summer school for students from Nova Kasaba and Bosanski Novi, in cooperation with the association “Ruku na srce“.

The students, accompanied by teachers Nizama Sejmenović and Emir ef. Nuhić, in the course of these three days of stay in Sarajevo, learnt about the history and culture of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Bosnian language and the life of Alija Izetbegović.

They visited the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Sarajevo War Tunnel, the “Alija Izetbegović” Museum, the First Bosniak High School, the Town Hall, and walked through the city center and old city Baščaršija and got acquainted with the numerous religious and cultural monuments located there, witnessing the multicultural character of our country. They also visited the “Kovači” cemetery, where they said a prayer for the fallen soldiers of Bosnia and Herzegovina and late President Alija Izetbegović. A special reception was organized in the premises of the “Alija Izetbegović” Foundation, where the guests learned more about the Foundation’s mission and activities.

As part of the educational part of the program, students listened to lectures and discussed the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Bosnian language with professors Hajrudin Mešić and Leila Hamzagić-Kovačević.

They also had the opportunity as part of the summer school program to enjoy various fun and relaxing activities, so they visited the Sarajevo City Center, watched a 3D film projection, took a ride on the Trebevic cable car, walked along the Trebevic Mountain and looked at the panorama of Sarajevo. On the second day of the summer school, socializing with the volunteers of the association “Ruku na srce” was organized.

It was a special honor and pleasure for the Foundation to meet the young guests from Nova Kasaba and Bosanski Novi, as well as their teachers, to establish new acquaintances and fond memories, and we hope that this marks only the beginning of our future friendship and cooperation.

The Alija Izetbegović Foundation expresses its gratitude to the volunteers of the “Ruku na srce” association for their help and support in the implementation of this project, as well as to the administration and employees of the Gazi Husrev-bey Madrasa, in whose beautiful boarding school the participants of the summer school were accommodated.
